The Saint Petersburg rental market for offices is still in a developmental stage. Compared to other Eastern European cities, St. Petersburg still lags considerably in the availability of prime grade office space - offering only approximately 200,000 square meters of modern office space.

At present, St. Petersburg has approximately 40,000 square meters of Type A office space. Type A can be briefly described as modern office space with:

• Good communication links
• Central location
• Fully renovated to a Western standard including the entrance, interior and exterior facilities
• At least a moderate amount of parking space.

At the beginning of 2005, Type A spaces are renting for approximately $550 per meter per year.

There are approximately 180,000 square meters of Type B space. Type B space is also renovated to a Western standard but there may still be some elements that make the space less attractive and less expensive than Type A - these may include location outside of the immediate center, less modern communications, etc. Type B spaces currently rent for approximately $350 per year.
